Buying and Selling Soapbox Racers

Bookmark and Share

Traditionally, soapbox racing teams have built their racers from scratch, but with the growing popularity of soapbox racing across the UK there has been an increase in the number of people looking to buy a machine that is ready to race.

There are also an increasing number of cartie available for sale as existing teams embark upon new builds or or told in no uncertain terms to "get rid of that thing that is cluttering up the garage". Sometimes these carties end up on eBay with asking prices ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds.

In terms of materials and, more importantly, time spent building the cartie the £1000+ price tag is probably quite fair, but the fact is that they rarely actually sell for anything more than about £400.

So - a question - how much would you be prepared to spend on buying a soapbox cartie that is "ready to race"?  Take part in our poll and help us all understand what potential buyers are looking for.
