Saturday 23rd June 2012

The community of Kirkton of Skene is coming together on Saturday 23rd June, for their annual Gala and Cartie Races at the village football pitch.

The day has been organised by the Milne Hall Management Committee, which has been very actively involved over the years in fundraising activities in order to carry out modernisation and refurbishment of the hall and its facilities.

Various groups in the community are participating in the Gala allowing them to fundraise for their own needs. Over the years, this has a created great community spirit where many members of the community, old and young, work together to put something back into their community.

The Gala will begin at 12 noon, with the opening of various stalls and games, with perhaps one of the main highlights of the day being the Cartie Parade (prizes for the best dressed cartie, best dressed team and most sponsorship raised) and Races with adults pushing and kids steering! A new event has been added on the same theme to this years’ Gala, a prize Jousting tournament for all to enter.

Further details can be obtained from Elaine Freeman on (01224) 742804.
