Blistering Start for SCA Championship

Bookmark and Share

The 2012 SCA Championship got off to a blistering start under clear blues skies at the Border Bogie Challenge last weekend. A thoroughly convincing performance from Team Rooket gave them maximum points, with Alford and Where's Me Spanners left to fight for the second place points. A poor first run by Charlie Jackson left Alford trailing until the very last run, when he managed to knock over 5 seconds from his previous best time to just grab the second place from Gerry and Dom Quinn.

Pist'n'Broke's late withdrawal of their two carties from the championship means there is a limited field this year, and barring any accidents Team Rooket are now strong favourites to lift the trophy for the second year running.

In the gravity sidecar class there are just two teams competing this year. Bush Racing's sleek and innovative recumbent sidecar design was too fast on the day for Team Weasel's new and still incomplete machine, but with both teams struggling to compete in the next race at the Catterline Cartie Challenge next month it could still go either way this year.
