Maniac 1 at Catterline Cartie ChallengeThe second round of the SCA Championship will take place this weekend at the pictureque clif top village of Catterline, on the North East coast of Scotland. Now in it's 6th year, the Catterline Cartie Challenge has been entertaining competitors and spectators alike as the home made carties fly down the steep road from the Creel Inn to the harbour. At ~300m in length, it is a relatively short course but its combination of gravel and tarmac surfaces and tight turns makes it a track that favours nimble carties and courageous drivers.

Alford Gravity Racers will be hoping to use this to gain some ground on Crockle and level or draw ahead on championship points. but none of the SCA Cartie teams have competed at Catterline before and their lack of local experience may be crucial. Despite several visitors from far and wide, Catterline has always been won by a local team.

SCA Championship

I see under Let's get ready to trundle that local teams have always won at Catterline.

His Majesty Peter the Great will no doubt be thinking he is a local team now he has camped at Catterline for a night.Laughing  I have been advised by his Majesty that Team Crockle has been doing a lot of tweeking following Denholm and is now running on different wheels and tyres and there has also been some secret body changes made. Apparently I have to content myself with being second.Wink

Team Rooket have been

Team Rooket have been tweaking since BB2010 as well (i.e. getting the tracking/set up done so we can go in a straight lineEmbarassed)

PnB what about the rest of us? do we not count? what happens if we want to come in second for a change!

See you all on Sunday and may the best team win (but it prob won't be us again!!)

Azuma, I was simply quoting

Azuma, I was simply quoting His Royal Highness Peter the Great! Who by this time is enjoying the merryment at Catterline with a few beers! In fact I have never done better than third and you should not allow yourself to even think about coming second as first place is the place to be if Peter's banter is to be quelled.Laughing The reason Pete is after my scalp is because he thinks I might try to dislodge him from his top spot in the SCA championship and of course he is right as we are good pals and love the banter.

On a serious note poor old Pete nearly lost out just before Catterline in that his trailer overturned crossing the carrageway slightly damaging a front wheel bearing on his Firefly. Nothing serious and I doubt if it will slow him down but it does show that a well made cartie can take a lot of punishment.

there was deffo no offence,

there was deffo no offence, just a bit of humour and as you say Peter is gonna e hard to beat. Good news he is OK after trailer probs - much damage?

Peter doesnt slow down - he don't know how too

It seems that Peter's

It seems that Peter's trailer rolling escapades may have been a portent of things to come, if his spectacular somersault after crossing the finish line on his first run was anything to go by. He walked away with a couple of scrapes and bumps, but Fire Fly's day was over as far a racing was concened. He still managed to pick up a well deserved "Best Engineered" trophy though.

The winnner was Bush Racing from Aberdeen.

 Dispite our fellow

Dispite our fellow competitions problems, it was nice to see that the tweeks carried out by teamrooket since BB2010 paid dividends, with an championship win dispite our own crash. This sets up an exciting finale at Cairngorm.

 More teamrooket tweeks to come.

keep it rubber side down

Just to say thanks Stephen

Just to say thanks Stephen and everyone else for a great day. It was our first time at Catterline and was only spoiled by me stuffing the cartie again!
I have now uploaded some of the photos and videos on to our website

Once again we didn't win anything, we couldn't even get the crash right - Roy and Peter beat us to that as well. Seriously though, I hope they are both OK.
If we don't pick up anything at CSE we are thinking of changing the cartie name from NaeCost to NaeTrophies!

see you all at CSE
