Border Bogies 2010 - Unofficial Results

Gravity racers from near and far converged on the village of Denholm, near Hawick last weekend for the first race of the year - the 2010 Border Bogie Challenge - and they were not disappointed. A very competitive field and glorious sunshine meant the spectators were treated to some of the best in gravity racing, with the senior soapbox trophy being decided by just 1 second over three runs.

The event saw the very first time that the SCA's new Gravity Sidecar class had raced in anger, with 4 teams showing off their brand new machines. Not surprisingly, given the early stage in the development of gravity sidecar racing, the times were a little off those of the very fastest soapboxes and quite spread out, but the Cheats won comfortably, putting in time similar to the times they achieved with their soapbox the previous year.

Border Bogies was also the first round in the SCA Championship, and Peter Pope's (Crockle) consolation for missing out on the Senior Bogie prize was to collect the maximum 7 points for being the highest placed SCA competitor. [full table here]

Congratulations to all the teams for a hard fought but friendly and enjoyable race, and to the organizers for all the hard work that went in to putting on such a great event.
