Red Bull Soapbox Race London

The legendary Red Bull Soapbox Race arrives in the UK in 2013 following a nine year absence. This iconic soapbox race - the inspiration for so many community based soapbox races that have sprung up around the country since then - comes hot on the heels of sold out Soapbox races across the globe in venues as far afield as Mumbai and Hong Kong and promises to showcase the wackiest road race ever staged on UK soil.

Nerves of steel and a large dose of craziness, combine to create one hell of a ride at the Red Bull Soapbox Race. Taking place on 14th July at Alexandra Palace in London the race is now open for entrants, so,  if you’ve got a need for speed and like to stand out from the crowd, it’s time to get your carts into gear and apply (details below).

Hot Rod HayrideIf you have a saw, glue, a hammer, some string and an old bit of plywood... clearly you should get out more and collect more interesting things. Failing that, you can stay in your shed this winter and build a Soapbox.... all the thrills and spills you can imagine - if you have a very limited imagination... Kids, Dogs, Adults, Idiots, all welcome! All Soapbox entrants win a DVD and T Shirt and the winner wins a genuine Stromberg Carburettor donated by www.stromberg-97.com. The irony of not being able to use this on a Soapbox has been pointed out... thank you. No one likes a smart arse...

Thrills on the Hills

Ready, Steady, Go. All race fans will be setting course for Pomeroy this summer as the Longest Soapbox Race in Ireland is currently being planned.

The race route promises hair raising action as the Soapboxes will let let gravity help them rip down Pomeroy Main Street at breathtaking speeds. Starting at the Credit Union the teams will have to prepare the vehicles for the death defying course, around the diamond and down the straightway on Main Street known to be one of the Steepest Streets in Ireland to Station Road. They will have to negotiate this corner and major wipe outs here are expected. Heading towards the old railway bridge there is a double chicane and then its the back straight down Cornamaddy road where the the fastest laps will be recorded on the finish line.

Penn House Gravity Grand PrixThe Penn House Grand Prix in Buckinghamshire will return in 2014 after a very successful first run last year.  The course is quite a challenge technically with what we think is the only steep uphill section in the UK!

This year there will be three classes, an open class and a two formula classes for karts with and without bodywork. The formula classes will have strictly enforced weight limits for complete fairness. It again runs on the long, winding private driveway of a grand country house.

There will also be a trial run of gravity bikes this year so gravity bikes are encouraged to apply.
