The Whitehill Bordon Town Partnership are holding their annual Soapbox Derby on 27th May 2013. Vehicles are powered by gravity, anyone can build a cart, drivers must be 16 or over (Under 18’s need parental consent).

Funds raised by this event will be donated to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Bordon & Liphook Charity.

The Penn House Gravity Grand Prix will take place on Monday 27 May 2013. Earl and Countess Howe have very kindly allowed this event to take place at Penn House, their family home, and the course will be on the private driveway - about a mile long -leading from the main house to the gatekeepers lodge – and drops about 40 meters over that distance. It winds its way through beautiful woodlands. The most amazing bit is that the 5th Earl Howe had the corners banked to race his Bugatti along it!

The Avon Dassett Annual Soap Box Derby will take place on Saturday 15th June 2013.

Kemnay Primary School will be holding their annual Cartie Rally on Sunday 23rd June.

This is a street race on Grove Road, Kemnay. There are 5 age categories including adult. Application forms can be downloaded from the Kemnay Primary School website.

One awesome race from the top all the way down to Battle Abbey gatehouse, this will be a race of speed, daring and of course, amazing costumes!

The Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby, inaugurated by Hessle Town Council and South Ferriby Parish Council in the summer of 2012 as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby is set to become an annual race. It is for amateur teams to enter their handmade carts and have some fun, win prizes and raise money for good causes. Last year in excess of £4,000 was raised for Help for Heroes.

This years partner charity is Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Hinckley BID Soap Box Derby is intended as an annual fun day for the teams, supporters and spectators of all ages from the Hinckley area, and beyond. As an event, it is also intended to raise money for local charities.

The aim is to encourage up to 50 Soap Box Teams to compete.

The idea is to utilise the natural hill on Castle Street for individual 'Time-Trial' performances – 3 runs per Team. The course will start from the Church Walk junction and end in Market Square.

'Themed' Soap Boxes are especially encouraged since they provide the most interest to spectators.

The Hawklands Hill run is something a little bit different. Instead of aiming for the quickest time down the course, the teams compete to see who can travel the furthest.

The 2013 Richards Castle Soap Box Derby will be held on Sunday July 14th on Hanway Common, near Ludlow in Shropshire.

The course is 550m in length, with a vertical drop of 50m and gives speeds up to 45mph. Full details at richardscastlesoapbox.co.uk.

We understand they will be accepting gravity sidecar entries as well as soapboxes, but please make sure you confirm this with the organisers.

"Worlaby is a small village located on the western edge of the Wolds near Brigg. It also has the perfect assest for Gravity Racing, The Hill. With a steep gradiant and natural bends it makes the perfect location to hold a Gravity Competition.

Apple Head Gravity Sport are holding a competition on Sunday 14 July which will start at 9:00 hrs."

The legendary Red Bull Soapbox Race arrives in the UK in 2013 following a nine year absence. Ready, Steady, Go. All race fans will be setting course for Pomeroy this summer as the Longest Soapbox Race in Ireland is currently being planned.

The race route promises hair raising action as the Soapboxes will let let gravity help them rip down Pomeroy Main Street at breathtaking speeds. Starting at the Credit Union the teams will have to prepare the vehicles for the death defying course, around the diamond and down the straightway on Main Street known to be one of the Steepest Streets in Ireland to Station Road. They will have to negotiate this corner and major wipe outs here are expected. Heading towards the old railway bridge there is a double chicane and then its the back straight down Cornamaddy road where the the fastest laps will be recorded on the finish line.

The Aldington Soapbox Derby will take place on Monday 26th August 2013 (August Bank Holiday).

Build yourself a whacky crowd pleaser, or create something that will challenge the course record.

It's not all about the racing, this is also a fantastic day out for the family with plenty to see and do.

The main purpose of the event is to raise funds for our chosen beneficiaries, The Pilgims Hospice, Ashford and Kaleidoscope Childcare, Aldington

The Drumlanrig Gravity Grand Prix is an "all disciplines" gravity race in the delightful grounds of Drumlanrig Castle, near Dumfries. The course is approximately 1Km in length and has a a good mix of sharp and gentle turns. Typical top speeds will be around 45mph (see the speed profile for details).

This is part of a much larger event - the Scottish AutoFest - which is being run on a not for profit basis to raise money for charity. In addition to the gravity racing there will be a range of attractions that will delight all the family and provide something to interest visitors of all ages.

There will be free on-site camping for competitors. Entries open in the next few days.

This is the home of a hill climb venue.

Cost will be circa £70 per cart, if sufficient entries can be found - it's not cheap (Track fees, Amenities, Liability Insurance, First aid cover...etc etc) but the course is amazing. At least 20 carties are needed to make it viable.

It's not the longest track (640m), but its certainly no "let it roll and stop at the bottom" run. It is very steep with several very tight bends and you will need to have good brakes and handling as well as nerves of steel. Analysis of the course using CartieSim shows estimated top speedsin the mid-40s, with heavy braking required in some places.

Camping will be available behind the Jack O'Mitre pub near by.

The Kop Hill Soapbox Derby Challenge is intended to provide the opportunity for our younger racers to design, build and compete in a soapbox event.

The Catterline Cartie Challenge is an annual competition for home made "gravity powered" soapbox carties which is held as part of Catterline Gala Weekend. It was first held in 2005, and is one of the highlights of the village year.

It also forms part of the SCA Championship series.

Top speeds are around 30mph, and the short and twisty course provides plenty of excitement for drivers and spectators alike.

Entries for existing teams will be available from 1st January 2014, with entries from new teams being accepted from early February 2014.
